If you are posting things on Facebook during school, you will be suspended! You are not to have your cell phone on during school hours – even during lunch!
Please be aware of what you are posting! People can and will take pictures of the screen. The pictures are shown to the school administrators. If the pictures are inappropriate or interfere with the learning environment, the principal and assistant principals will discipline the students posting the pictures.
Future employers and colleges/universities can and will look at your Facebook when deciding if you are worthy of working for them or attending their school!
Think about your future! BE NICE AND SHOW RESPECT FOR OTHERS!
The McLean Middle School Future City team (coached by Mr. Boley) competed on Saturday in the North Texas Regional competition at UT Arlington. There were 57 teams from across North Texas competing. There are four aspects to the competition:
1. The team has to design a computer model of a city of the future using the SimCity software
2. The team has to write an abstract and essay explaining the features of their city in areas such as energy usage and distribution, transportation, water, education, healthcare, recreation, etc
3. The team has to create a physical model of the city using all recycled materials (our team used ink cartridges, keyboard keys, old trophies, etc)
4. The team has to give a 7 minute presentation of their city to a panel of engineer judges followed by a question and answer session
The combined score from each of the 4 categories is tallied and the McLean team came in first! As the winner, the team is invited (all expenses paid) to travel to Washington DC during National Engineers Week to compete in the national competition. This will take place in mid February.
The team consisted of the following McLean 8th graders: Emily Yurk, Wyatt Reeves, Paul Ryu, Junsok Ko and Maddy Moore
Many 7th graders participated to gain experience for next year.

McLean NJHS and Student Council will be sponsoring a Pet Food Drive from Monday, Feb. 6th - Friday, Feb. 17th.
We are collecting pet food for the Meals on Wheels recipients of Tarrant County. We have learned that many of the Meals on Wheels recipients are in need of food for their pets. Please help support us in this effort.
7th and 8th grade Team Times will be competing to bring in the most poundage of pet food.
The top 7th and 8th grade Team Times will get a very unique prize for their hard work.
